Gosnell Trial: Abortion Kills Children

As the jury entered its fifth day of deliberations in the murder trial of Kermit Gosnell, they had only considered page one of the 14 pages outlining 268 charges against the abortion doctor.  The horrific charges, graphically revealed during the past several weeks, have barely received notice by most media outlets, and yet, the trial is about the killing of children, and a young woman! Plan B is Bad News for Teen Girls

“There is not enough data on the health effects of Plan B on teen girls”, says HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

“Young people have approximately half of all sexually transmitted infections (STIs) nationwide. The availability of Plan B (Morning After Pill birth control), over-the-counter for all ages, would bypass necessary routine medical care for sexually active teens”, says Jeanne Monahan, Director of Family Research Council’s Center for Human Dignity.

Two voices, which might disagree on other topics, agree on this one: Plan B Morning After Pills are not in the best interest of young women. And yet, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has now approved the sale of this poorly tested drug, without a prescription, to girls as young as 15 years old.  Our sisters, our nieces, our daughters and granddaughters will no doubt be the target of major marketing campaigns.  Planned Parenthood has already hailed the FDA announcement as “good news”.

What is good about a drug that could be used to cover coerced sexual activity, forced by a predator?  What is good about an easily accessible drug that may cause serious harm to a young woman with pre-existing medical conditions that may only be known by mom and dad?  Why should we celebrate a drug that doesn’t protect girls from STIs’, which currently infect over 110 million?  Nor will Plan B won’t protect young women from a broken heart.

In spite of the drug maker’s admission that the drug can cause an abortion, the FDA in announcing the expanded availability of the Plan B Morning After Pill denied this fact.

President Obama has until May 5 to appeal the FDA decision. Perhaps he will share the concerns of his HHS Secretary.  My prayer is that the President will respond with a father’s heart, protecting daughters across America.

Moms and Dads have a great opportunity to use this news as a conversation starter with their teen girls.  Let them know of their value and worth, of your unconditional love for them, and God’s plan for healthy sexuality, saved for the marriage bed. Keep communication lines open with your teen and pray with them to stay pure for their future spouse.  Talk to your daughters before someone else encourages them to get birth control.  Need help with this conversation?  Contact the Medical Institute for Sexual Health at www.medinstitute.org

Silence of Media Threatens Women and Children

If you do not receive pro-life news updates via e-mail, or search for information on pro-life or pro-family websites, you may not be aware of the ongoing murder trial of abortion practitioner Kermit Gosnell in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He is charged with eight counts of murder – the death of a 41 year old woman who died during an abortion at his clinic, and the death of seven babies who survived abortion, born alive and then killed by severing their spinal cords with scissors. Speak Out For Those Who Have No Voice

Before the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River to enter the Promised Land, Moses gave them an “object lesson” to remind them of God’s commands once they entered Canaan, a land filled with idolatry. He charged half of the tribes to stand on Mount Gerizim and the other six to stand on Mount Ebal.

Mount Gerizim represented God’s blessings; Mount Ebal represented the curses that would come upon those who disobeyed God’s commands. Continue reading
